Pre Surgical Instructions

  • All Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 pounds.
  • You must have an appointment. Please call 888-504-SPAY to schedule your pet for surgery.
  • You must be on time for your scheduled check-in.
  • We accept only cash and credit (Visa/Mastercard/Discover) or debit cards. If you are paying with a credit card,
you will pay for services at the time that you make your appointment. If you are paying with cash, you will be
required to pay at the time of check-in.
  • Your pet will be ready to go home on the same day – so please be prepared to pick up your pet at a designated time.
  • Because of possible complications, we may not be able to accept females that are in heat
or pregnant or males with one or both testicles un-descended (crypt-orchid). If such a condition
exists and the animal is accepted for surgery, additional fees will apply.

The Night Before your Scheduled Appointment:

    • Keep your pet safely inside your home.
    • No food for your adult pet (including bones, treats, snacks, table-scraps) after 8:00pm – make sure that they always have fresh water available.
    • Pets 4 months or younger should have a small meal on the morning of surgery.

    The Day of Surgery

    • Please give your dog a good walk prior to arrival, or make sure that your dog relieves himself/herself.
    • Admission typically takes 10 minutes to complete.
    • All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a carrier. Separate carriers are recommended for multiple cats.
    • When you arrive for surgery your pet will first be examined and weighed by our Veterinarian or our Veterinary Technician. Please, let us know if your pet has exhibited any signs of illness, has had a recent decrease in appetite, or is on any medication.
    • If your pet needs vaccinations, we can administer them the day of surgery for a reasonable charge. Other services are available as well, please ask our Veterinary Technician for details.
    • When you return to pick up your pet you will be given both verbal and written instructions for their post-surgery care.
    • Be prepared to have your pet ride home in the car or cab of the truck with you. All animals will still be under the effects of anesthesia.
Thank you for making the decision to alter your pet
 – spay/neuter is the cornerstone of ending pet overpopulation
and we applaud you doing your part to help end the suffering of homeless animals.

Abandoning your animal is against the Law. If you do not pick your animal up or make alternative arrangements prior to leaving the animal, the Foundation has the right to surrender your pet to a municipal shelter of its choice. Once the animal has been abandoned, you relinquish all ownership rights and will be held responsible for any and all medical costs including boarding expenses. If you abandon your animal it will be reported to the appropriate authority and you will be subjected to all laws that may apply and liable for all court costs incurred as a result of abandoning your animal.
